Why I love Adelaide: Rebecca Morse

Last updated 31 Jan, 2024

As the co-host of SAFM's breakfast show Bec, Cosi and Lehmo, Rebecca Morse talks Adelaide every morning, making her the perfect person to ask why she loves Adelaide!

Tell us your favourite childhood memory of coming to the city...

My best memory as a kid would be shopping with Mum. We’d come into Rundle Mall, it was John Martin’s back in the day – showing my age, and then we would have lunch somewhere on Rundle Mall or maybe Gouger Street in Chinatown and those are really good childhood memories for me.

Why is winter a great time to visit the city?

I had the misfortune of living in Melbourne for a few years and I can tell you it is freezing over there – windy, icy. Adelaide winters are really not that cold at all, they’re mild really. Put a coat on and a scarf, go to a pub with an open fire, a nice restaurant and it’s really cosy.

Favourite bars and restaurants in the city?

Bars and restaurants, that’s a tough one because I just really don’t go out very often… Hmm that is a joke (laughs). In terms of restaurants, I love Koomo here at the Crowne Plaza, Bai Long on Hutt St, Bar Torino on Hutt Street, Sol Bar. I love Italian so there’s ITL, Oggi and 2KW is a personal favourite because they have just named a cocktail after myself and Cosi so I can’t go past that.

Best place for coffee?

Adelaide does the best coffee. My favourites are Coffylosophy on Hutt Street, if you can manage to say it, Luigi’s on Franklin Street, they drop coffees to SAFM every day and they are absolute lifesavers and then any of the coffee shops on Vardon Avenue in the East End, they all do amazing coffee, you can’t go wrong.

What do you like most about Adelaide?

What’s not to love about Adelaide? I love our food and wine culture, I love that it’s like a big country town – if you go to a bar or a restaurant in Adelaide you’re going to know three people everywhere you go. It is a really friendly, warm community vibe but still sophisticated as well.
