A guide to late night dining
Burgers on Peel Street, spaghetti in the East End and Cantonese favourites in the Market Quarter. Even after 10:00 pm, there are plenty of options to sink your teeth into.
Sunny's Pizza
Slinging discs until late seven days a week, this party-sized pizza joint is well equipped with a DJ booth and disco ball for maximum fun while you dine. Not satisfied with serving up some of the West End's best pizza, you'll also find elite pastas, cocktails and sides (don't skip the wood-roasted brussels).
Olive Restaurant
A Mediterranean fusion restaurant where flavour, fun, family and friends come first. Expect generous servings and sensational seasonal dishes, plus a great 'Feed Me' option with hearty options including tuna crudo with buttermilk dressing, ricotta gnocchi with sausage ragu and pistachio baklava ice cream sandwich.
Bread & Bone Wood Grill
This Peel Street eatery has a smoky flame roaring quietly in their open kitchen, adding a distinctive deliciousness to their menu, which includes their signature range of burger and hotdogs, plus a beef brisket with creamy mac and cheese, spiced pork ribs or steak frites with peppercorn gravy.
Walk-ins are welcome, but bookings are recommended to score a seat in this cosy spot. At best, you’ll be seated straight away and at worst, there’ll be enough time to squeeze in another drink at their secret downstairs bar (just push the crease in the wall by the ladies’ toilets).
Ying Chow
Ying Chow has been satisfying the late night grumbles of hungry tummies since way back when. Don’t be fooled by the stripped back, fluoro-lit décor. The extensive menu features pages and pages of Guangzhou’s best including dishes like BBC, red vinegar ribs and an array of hot pots. The roast duck is a must!
Bar Torino
Late night eats can be both a little bit fancy and a lot delicious. Bar Torino is inspired by the flavours of Spain’s Basque country, serving up a curated range of pintxos like Gazander oysters with green tomato mignonette, anchovy toast and bresola with whipped feta. Wash them down with a gin selection that spans the globe.
La Louisiane
Take a short flight of stairs down King William Street and you'll be whisked away into a moody French bistro, with live jazz, classic cuisine and a fantastic vino offering.
Midnight Spaghetti
Unlike the name suggests, Midnight Spaghetti doesn’t open or close at midnight. Instead, it’s somewhere that allows pasta lovers to meet and eat in and around that am/pm hour. The modern interior was designed by a local design firm, Sans-Arc, and gives the old upstairs pub venue its second wind. Try 12-hour braised lamb ragu, gnocchi pomodoro with heirloom tomatoes and stracciatella or indulgent mushroom and truffle alfredo.
La Trattoria
La Trattoria (or "La Tratt") is known well to most Adelaide locals, with three generations of the Parisi family running the restaurant to this day. Dishing up traditional pasta, pizza and handmade gnocchi until late on King William Street’s southern end, it's a great spot to grab authentic Italian eats after a show at the Adelaide Town Hall or nearby Arts Theatre. If a casual bite is more your style, order a pizza from the takeaway counter just next door.
Udaberri Pintxos Y Vino
Fresh from a show at the Adelaide Festival Centre? Wander up to this much-loved small bar on Leigh Street, which pays homage to San Sebastian's vibrant pintxo bars. Choose from an extensive wine list, order up from their tapas range and kick on till the early hours.
Osteria Oggi
Fresh pasta is made daily at this sophisticated spot, modelled on an Italian piazza and complete with cobblestoned floor, arches and intimate booth seating. The team have crafted an exceptional core menu, but repeat visits are very much necessary as specials change to make the most of seasonal produce.
