The longest-running curated children's festival in the world, DreamBIG Children's Festival celebrates its 50th anniversary this year! From 7-17 May, discover a huge program packed with events, performances, workshops and more for kids of all ages.

Head to Adelaide Festival Centre, Festival Plaza and surrounds for the one of the festival's crown jewels, the BIG Family Weekend, on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 May. There are over 50 free family events to enjoy, including huge outdoor puppetry, immersive glow rooms and plenty of messy fun.

String Symphony

Leor, a giant marionette made of over one kilometre of woven rope, is waiting to be brought to life by DreamBIG’s audience.

DreamBIG Lucky Dip Tent

Curiosity reigns in the Lucky Dip Tent, where guests are treated to mystery 20-minute performances throughout the day. Music, storytelling, theatre, comedy—who knows! Thrills and wonder await inside.

The Museum of the Everyday

Suitable for ages 5+

Help the curator of The Museum of the Everyday collect items for a time capsule that tells the story of today. Every choice and every item tell a story, from profound symbols to mundane objects, as this time capsule carries our hopes and dreams into the cosmos.

This is a hands-on activity, where participants are encouraged to get involved through dancing, making or sharing their ideas.

Glow Lounge

For babies under 12 months and their families

Glow Lounge is a unique dance experience with the youngest family members at the centre. It invites guests to connect deeply through shared movement and gestures, guided by chilled rhythms and a mellow atmosphere.

Catch the next wave of artists before they blow up at Garageband / Tarntanya, an all-ages free concert, where 15 bands perform over three big stages. Whether you're into indie, punk, hip hop or pop, there’s something for every ear.
