A significant monument, with landmark qualities. The statue is the work of Sir Bertram Mackennal, the only Australian sculptor to be elected a full member of the Royal Academy. Mackennal produced three other Edward VII sculptures, located in Melbourne, Calcutta and London. The South Australian work is 'quite different and...therefore quite particular to the City of Adelaide'.
