The thought of heading out for drinks on a cold winter's night might sound daunting, however a new bar in the city's West End is helping turn up the heat. Learn about High Spirits bar, which launched last week, and other venues that shake, stir and blend their cocktails with a side of fire.

The brains behind Tiki-inspired venue High Spirits Jamie Tierney says the cocktails at his bar are nothing short of eclectic — especially when they aim to dial up the mercury on those chilly evenings.
In fact, bartenders can often be seen using fire, or even fire breathing, at the Gilbert Place bar to create tantalising cocktails for customers.
“We’ve seen a lot of people really appreciate what we’re offering at High Spirits,” Mr Tierney says.
“This is a culmination of love and passion for cocktails and providing a really great time with multiple seating options and an extensive cocktail list.”
The classic Zombie drink is a crowd favourite, which includes a combination of plantation light, dark and overproof rums with 11 other secret ingredients.

Flaming hot passion can be at the heart of any cocktail at 1000 Island.
For an extra $4, customers can add a flaming passionfruit to any cocktail for some extra heat.
The team cut a passionfruit in half, pour a shot of rum over it, pop it on top of a drink and then set it on fire for some extra pizzaz.

Enjoy a flaming drink with Mario, Sonic or Pacman at Adelaide's retro-themed gaming wonderland, the Power Up Bar.
With nostalgic feels, which organically brings a competitive spirit, peruse through a selection of flaming shots to warm up on those cold nights.
Two of the three flaming shots on the menu are a nod to Mortal Kombat and Dragon Ball Z.
