Guide to Marshmallow Playspace and Pityarilla Activity Hub
The Pityarilla Activity Hub in the Adelaide Park Lands is causing squeals of delight from kids and adults alike.
The hub houses an impressive array of spaces to play, connect and relax. Located just off Glen Osmond road, the park is a short 12-minute walk from the South Terrace tram stop. Visitors can picnic on the lush plaza, cross the renewed creek bed, roam wild in the Oxbow Playspace, bounce by the community courts, and skip around Marshmallow Playspace.
Nestled under the protective boughs of an ancient Moreton Bay fig, the much-loved playspace has undergone a major refurbishment. Interactive water play elements see children working together to weave a flow of water through rock and sand paths. Traditional play equipment sits alongside cubby house structures inspired by Aboriginal Wurlies.
Those with a big imagination can roam free through nature in the Oxbow Playspace. Stepping stones, logs and boulders surround the island where recycled logs are perched to form an enormous tepee. A large wooden climbing frame, complete with a rope net, provides a challenge to the bigger kids while its smaller sister frame sits in Marshmallow Playspace.
The creek bed which weaves through the centre of the hub is home to thousands of new plants. A mix of indigenous species have been planted to increase biodiversity and prevent weeds and erosion.

The lush natural amphitheatre of the plaza is an ideal people-watching spot and vantage point for games on the tennis and basketball courts. Push-button lighting on these community courts is one of the many thoughtful new facilities that can be found throughout the hub including accessible barbecues and toilets.

Four-legged friends and their humans have an opportunity to play and socialise in the fenced dog park in the northern end of the hub. Owners can relax on sheltered seating while their dogs explore the natural obstacles and the doggy water play feature.

The hub was designed with the help of ideas from the community, playspace expertise from local school children, and the results of the 'Shape the Park Lands' consultation. This project was delivered by the City of Adelaide and funded by the State Government of South Australia.
