Tarnanthi Festival

October 2026 to January 2027

Tarnanthi Festival showcases the nuanced complexity and radical ingenuity of contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art. The event is an opportunity for stories to be shared and heard, as well as providing a platform for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, both emerging and established.

The festival started in 2015 and since then has given a platform for thousands of artists and communities to share their stories and practice. Fittingly, the festival’s name means ‘to come forth’ or ‘appear’ in Kaurna. The Kaurna people are the traditional owners and custodians of the Adelaide Plains.
