Sculpture No. 2

Bert Flugelman

Sculpture No. 2, also known as Vertical Variation, was the second of Flugelman’s sculptures at the Adelaide Festival Centre and was developed to supplement the larger Tetrahydrons sculpture on the Festival Plaza.

Flugelman migrated to Australia in 1938. Between 1972 and 1983 he was a lecturer at the UniSA South Australian School of Art, where he became Head of Sculpture. It was during this period that some of his best-known works were produced including The Spheres affectionately called ‘Malls Balls’ in the Rundle Mall.
