Progress

Lyndon Dadswell

Dadswell’s work titled Progress was commissioned by David Jones Pty Ltd in 1962 for the front facade of the department store in Rundle Mall. The complex planar figure was developed to absorb and reflect light on its surface. The figure is reminiscent of the neo-cubist style in both title and composition. When it was made, Progress represented the ambitions of the City.
