Even Superheroes Skate

Tarns One

City Skate on West Terrace was co-designed with local skaters to make a park unique to Adelaide, and that legacy continues with a striking new mural completed in August 2025, Even Superheroes Skate.

Created by South Australian artist Tarns One (Adam Poole-Mottishaw) with mentee Ryan McCarthy, the project kicked off with a workshop and live painting demonstration during April Youth Week celebrations at the park. Participants called for a larger canvas, expanding the work to the back of the skate cradle, and asked for superheroes to be woven into the design.

Of the mural, lead artist Tarns One says, “I think it reflects the diversity of the skate park. The bright and colourful personalities that use it and all the different types of activities that happen here.

This project is more than a mural — it’s a message: the park belongs to the community, created by and for those who live to ride it."
