Annabelle Colette

This mosaic was made as a memorial to the late, great Derek Jolly by South Australian artist Annabelle Colette. Jolly was a well-known, multifaceted Melbourne St personality with some of his key interests captured as bronze elements in the artwork. Born into the famous Penfolds wine dynasty, Jolly raced cars for Lotus and was a talented photographer. In the 1960s Jolly was particularly passionate about developing Melbourne St, North Adelaide. Jolly opened the Magic Flute restaurant, Gamba Studio and built the Futuro house, a flying saucer shaped house, all in Decca’s Place Development located on Melbourne St.

Annabelle Collett (1955 – 2019) was a South Australian artist and designer. Collett was particularly known for her fashion designs created under the Ya Ya Oblique Clothing label. Collett’s sculptural work often referenced the body, gender, and sexuality. She was known for working with recycled and found plastics.
