State Library Catalogue Reference:B 6199

The Pavilion Theatre (Pav) was opened 22 June 1912 and was the first cinema in SA to show films continuously (11am-11pm). Extensive remodelling in 1940 saw it open as the Rex cinema after spending the previous 10 years as a minigolf link! It was demolished in 1961 to make way for the Cox-Foys extension (now Renaissance Centre).
