Digital Marketplace FAQs

Businesses should think of it as an additional sales channel where the marketplace helps to market and promote your products. AEDA has developed its city digital marketplace to promote and sell products or services to customers after noticing a need to support city businesses with online sales. Adelaide has a diverse range of products and services that can now be purchased, by both national and international customers, all in one place. With next day delivery and click and collect options, customers will now a convenient way to shop in the city, any time of the day.

There are no fees charged to join AEDA's Digital Marketplace. It does not cost anything to join the marketplace and there are no subscription or membership fees. We only take a 5% commission on every successful transaction. (This means, we only take 5% for products purchased through the site. E.g. if a buyer purchases $100 worth of clothes, we will take $5 and the other $95 will go to you — minus any payment processing fees by Stripe)

The 5% commission fee goes back into supporting the operations of AEDA marketplace. We hope that this will allow the marketplace to be self-sufficient and self-sustaining so that it minimises additional funding needed to run the marketplace.

To register as a seller on the platform, please fill in this form which will be reviewed by the AEDA Digital Marketplace team. Please note that to be a seller you must be a business that has a presence within the 5000 and 5006 postcodes of Adelaide CBD and North Adelaide.

Currently, only businesses that have a physical presence in the Adelaide CBD or North Adelaide are eligible.

The Digital Marketplace allows sellers to upload items directly onto the marketplace. However, we have a quality policy and a team that reviews items uploaded to the marketplace and any listings that are not in accordance with our policies will be taken down.

Firstly, this digital marketplace targets a South Australian audience that want to buy local Adelaide products and services, with an already established large database of customers. Secondly, it is much more cost effective, with only 5% commission taken on any sales.

The marketplace currently supports integrations with both Shopify and Magento. This means that if you currently have an e-commerce store based on the Shopify or Magento platforms, we can pull selected products straight onto the marketplace and also keep inventory accurate across both sites.

We are taking note of the different providers that sellers are using such as Woocommerce, etc. and will be reviewing how we can support our sellers as we continue to build out the marketplace.

One of the best ways to easily copy your product information over, would be for us to help you with a mass upload. In order to do this, you will need to download a CSV file from your current ecommerce shop. You can then send this to us and we can help assist you in uploading the products.

Of course you can. You have control of your own store within the marketplace and can add / remove / adjust products and pricing etc. If you want to offer offers or discounts to encourage more purchases, you can also do this.
