Self-care for the holiday season
In collaboration with the City of Adelaide libraries and community centres, Relationships Australia SA is offering an opportunity for the community to learn and engage through a diversity of supports offered by the Gambling Help Service's experienced, holistically driven, and passionate team.
As we head into the festive season of Christmas and New Years, we can experience a growing increase in financial, emotional, psychological, and social demands. The holiday season can be a time of celebration and connection with those we care about. However, as we emerge from the isolation of COVID into an unstable economic climate, it is a time of stress and increased triggers for some. We are launched into busy shops with even busier car parks, pressures to participate in gift giving with family, friends or in the workplace and expectations to attend family and friend events. Not to mention the unavoidable consequence of spending beyond our means.
During these pressure heavy times, how do you minimise access to “quick money” and avoid other unhelpful coping strategies that may include the increase of alcohol and other drugs?
Join our therapeutic team for a discussion about the stressors that the holiday season can bring. We will discuss how to set boundaries when you need to as well as how to minimise unhelpful coping mechanisms and create strategies that can assist with self-care during the “silly season.”
