Sir Ross Smith Memorial

Fredrick Brook Hitch A.R.B.S.
Commissioned by a public subscription 'shilling fund' after the tragic test flight accident in England, the Sir Ross Smith statue captures the aviators passion for flying. Once funds were secured the memorial committee opened a prize for sculptors from Australia and England. English sculptor Fredrick Brook Hitch won the price and completed the statue in 1927.
