This site at 117 Hindley Street is significant for South Australia because the first issue of Adelaide's daily newspaper The Advertiser was printed here on 12 July 1858.
From 1852 the site was a busy auction mart for Mitchell Powell and Co and was known as Commercial House.
Seen here in 1870 it was a saddlery owned by Joseph Charles Genders. The building was demolished around 1928.
