It’s time to Hit the Town this winter in the city and North Adelaide! There are so many events to get you, your family and friends out of the house and into one of the best events seasons Adelaide has ever had!

Winter Weekends

Friday 2 July – Saturday 2 October
Various locations in the CBD and North Adelaide

Add a little heat to your Friday or Saturday night and head into the city for Winter Weekends. Fire pits, roving fire twirling performances, live music and outdoor dining will be coming to the streets of Adelaide every Friday and Saturday. Perch next to a fire pit, indulge in delicious food and wine from local restaurants and soak up the live entertainment every weekend at six locations across the city and North Adelaide. 

The Winter Village

Friday 14 May – Sunday 5 September
Torrens Parade Ground

This magical winter wonderland is a must-visit destination perfect for the whole family. In the heart of Adelaide, enjoy ice-skating, snow showers, a pop-up bar and kitchen and of course, the magical igloo village. With a full season of events and activities to explore, The Winter Village is free to enter and open seven days a week. 

Van Gogh Alive

Thursday 1 July – Sunday 22 August
Grand Pavillion, 88 O'Connell Street North Adelaide

The life and legacy of Vincent Van Gogh comes leaping off the canvas in this multi-sensory tribute to one of Western art’s greatest names. 131 years after his death, Van Gogh Alive turns the art world on its head, using the latest audio-visual technology to transport the viewers inside Van Gogh’s greatest masterpieces. From swirling night skies to the eye-popping yellows of his iconic sunflowers, Van Gogh Alive uses giant screens, a rich classical score and over 3,000 images to create an immersive experience tracing the story of Van Gogh’s final decade and its prolific, tragic crescendo. The creation of Australian company, Grande Experiences, this international sensation has toured more than 60 cities around the world. Umbrella Festival

Friday 16 July – Sunday 17 October

An open access live music festival presented by not-for-profit organisation, Music SA, Umbrella is a celebration of SA's amazing music scene - especially local artists, venues and creatives. Umbrella events are hugely unique and diverse, with not only local artist but also interstate and international artists across pop, rock, hip hop, punk, jazz, world music, metal, folk, electronic and everything in between! Umbrella events can be found all over the city, in venues, alleyways, malls, libraries, parks, theatres, and more!

SALA Festival

Sunday 1 August – Tuesday 31 August

The South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival is a statewide festival of visual art, involving over 600 venues across the state and over 9,000 participating artists. The SALA Festival was established in 1998 to promote and celebrate the many talented visual artists in SA. As part of SALA's commitment to building new audiences for the visual arts, SALA began offering art tours. SALA Festival also liaises with sponsors and partners to offer a series of awards and residencies. There are many SALA in the city events you can go to.

Botanica Lumina

August – October
Adelaide Botanic Gardens

As twilight descends, immerse yourself in a creatively curated program of events that present the garden in a new light. Spanning Adelaide’s cooler months from April to October, Botanica Lumina offers something for everyone with an assortment of music, art, film, food and cultural experiences for all ages and interests. On the special event nights, you can also take in Botanica Lumina’s ambient lighting, listen and inhale as the sounds and scents of the outdoors comes alive at night, relax with delicious food & drink and become part of evening events you’ll remember. Please note that Adelaide Botanic Garden will only be open at night for the specific events listed below. Tickets are required for all Botanica Lumina events.
