Damon Gameau - filmmaker

“[The '2040' film] was a really interesting opportunity to re-frame some of these ecological problems as an opportunity, and a way to motivate people through solutions and excite them about what might lie on the other side of some of these problems."

Damon Gameau found fame early on in his acting career with roles in award-winning films 'The Tracker' and 'Balibo' as well as popular TV series, 'How I Met Your Mother' - but behind the camera is where he's found his true path: inspiring hope through positive storytelling.

Following the success of his debut documentary 'That Sugar Film', Damon released '2040', tackling the subject of the effects of climate change with a refreshingly optimistic 'solutions-based' approach; one that shifts the narrative beyond the negative.

'2040' explores what the future could look like if all the best solutions already at hand to improve the planet were moved into the mainstream. It also presents the science around climate change in a relatable way that educates, engages and inspires.

In this episode of the Adelaide Living podcast, recorded on 10 March 2020, Damon shares what gave him the courage to start telling his own stories, why he chooses hope as the way to bring more people into the climate conversation, and the importance of ‘dreaming’ in shaping a better future for us all.
