Adelaide headquartered Sealink expands footprint internationally

Last updated 01 Dec, 2021

Adelaide headquartered Sealink acquires Transit Systems Group, Australia’s largest private operator of public bus services and its network of international entities.

Last week saw the ASX listed Sealink Travel Group make the move to expand their footprint internationally through the company’s biggest deal in its 30-year history. Transit Systems Group service Australia extensively and also count vast bus operations across Singapore and London.

Transit System Group’s business capabilities extend from public transport, hydrogen and electric buses to network planning. Previously Sealink transported eight million customers annually across 14 destinations nationally. The addition of Transit Systems Group will see an additional 344 million passengers serviced across approximately 3,200 buses in Australia, London and Singapore.

The acquisition sees Sealink combine its standing as the largest marine transport company in the nation to extend its reach extensively in a move that integrates land and marine transport. With enhanced scale and capabilities, Sealink is now positioned to capitalize on large government contracts and provide solutions that encompass multi-modal mediums.

The new chapter sees current Group CEO of Transit Systems Group, Clint Feuerherdt, replace Jeff Ellison as SeaLink Group CEO as Jeff retires after 28 years of leadership service.

From humble beginnings in 1989 in Adelaide, with a single ferry in tow, Sealink is primed to extend the South Australian hospitality that has been at the heart of its tourism business across the globe.

Sealink’s global growth is a key example of why Adelaide was named the most competitive city to do business in the Asia Pacific.
