A food lover's dream comes to Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga

Last updated 06 May, 2022

Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga has been transformed into a foodie’s paradise following the launch of Tasting Australia, which showcases SA’s best culinary offerings.

Town Square is back for another year, with traders including Hubba Hubba Hummus, The Filipino Project, Gang Gang, Chilli Shack, Forage Supply Co, Fire x Soi 38 and Sunny’s Pizza among stallholders at the event.

Festivalgoers can choose from six unique bars serving a range of beers, wines, spirits and cocktails, and the team from Veneziano Coffee Roasters will be serving coffees from their onsite café.

There are more than 140 events across the CBD this year.

The Lord Mayor of Adelaide Sandy Verschoor says South Australian, national and international visitors alike should head to the city to be a part of the event and enjoy the food and drink on offer.

“Tasting Australia is a chance for us to immerse ourselves in the city’s food and wine culture, as well as support local traders that are hosting events,” the Lord Mayor says.

“This year’s program, across 10 days, promises to be the most diverse culinary festival yet, so I am looking forward to seeing what is on offer in the CBD.”

Town Square will be open for the duration of the festival and is free to enter.

At least four stallholders have brick and mortar businesses in the CBD - a testament to the strong culinary offering within the city.

This year, there will also be daily Express Lunches in Town Square Kitchen where time-poor patrons can enjoy a festival experience.

There are six sessions, two are already sold out.

Tasting Australia Co-Festival Director Karena Armstrong encourages people to head to Town Square for a unique experience.

“The weekday Express Lunch series is another treat for people visiting Town Square - $40 will get you a plate prepared by some of our leading festival talent like Dave Pynt or Amy Hamilton plus a glass of one of Yalumba’s premium wines,” Ms Armstrong says.

Tasting Australia’s Drinks Curator Nick Stock says the CBD’s beverage offerings are aplenty.

“From the masterclass series in Town Square, to Tasting Tables and Behind the Bar series both held in some of the CBD’s most loved brick and mortar venues …. you’ll find it at Tasting Australia,” says Mr Stock.

“We’ve curated an exciting line-up of beverage aficionados from around the country who can’t wait to share a glass or two with our guests.

Town Square patrons can have their meals on a reusable enamel Tasting Australia plate for $2, with all proceeds donated to the festival community partner Forage Built.

Tasting Australia is presented by RAA Travel and supported by the Adelaide Economic Development Agency and City of Adelaide.
