Events & Festivals Sponsorship Program

The Annual Sponsorship Program and Events Recovery Fund are administered by the Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA), a subsidiary of the City of Adelaide. The purpose of these programs is to provide financial support to eligible organisations to assist in the staging of events and festivals held within the City of Adelaide boundary.

About the program

AEDA invests in an annual calendar of events and festivals, on behalf of the City of Adelaide, to drive visitation, spending and support for local businesses as well as increase the profile of the city as a tourist destination. The calendar includes a mix of arts, culture, music, sport and food and wine events held throughout the year.

Applications for the 2022/2023 Events and Festivals Sponsorship Program are now closed.

This was the only opportunity to apply for sponsorship funding for events and festivals held between 1 July 2022 and 30 June 2023.

Biennial events, currently in their off-year, are also permitted to apply for funding at this time.

How to apply

Before commencing an application, make sure you’ve:

Events and Festivals Sponsorship application forms must be completed online via SmartyGrants within the given timeframe. You must register if you are a new SmartyGrants user. If you already have a SmartyGrants account, you can use existing details to log in and complete an application.

Applications have now closed. Late applications will not be accepted.

Important dates
  • 24 March 2022 Sponsorship applications open (one round only)
  • 27 April 2022 Sponsorship applications close 5 pm
  • May 2022 Applications are assessed and then reviewed by an advisory panel
  • May 2022 Funding recommendations presented to AEDA Board for consideration
  • June 2022 Funding recommendations presented to CEO/Council for approval
  • Late June 2022 Applicants notified of funding request outcome

Events Recovery Fund

About the program

Events and festivals are an important lever to encourage people back into the city. The purpose of the Events Recovery Fund is to support the events industry as it continues to face challenges as a result of the long-term impacts of COVID-19.

The program will offer three categories of funding designed to assist in the staging of COVID-safe events that help drive visitation, spending and vibrancy for the city:

  • Quick Response – up to $20,000
  • Expansion of Existing Events – up to $50,000
  • New Events – up to $200,000

As of 24 March 2022, the balance of the funding pool is $700,000 and is subject to change.

How to apply

Before commencing an application, you must:

  • Read the Events Recovery Fund Guidelines to ensure your organisation and event/festival meet the eligibility criteria for the category selected; and
  • Contact the relevant officer as detailed in the Guidelines.

Suitable requests will then be invited to complete an online application form via SmartyGrants.
